Dumbledore is gay
[What is wrong with homosexuals?]
Ok. This is somewhat unexpected. I mean, Professor Dumbledore is like, my favourite character after Harry Potter and Severus Snape(Oh! Snape! *Sobs*) from my favourite book series.
But it doesnt make me like him any less. True, before reading the article which Rowling commented that Dumbledore is gay, I have never really tried picturing him with anyone.
I mean, I did question why he was not married, but I just felt probably it is cos' he was too powerful a wizard that he was something close to a celestial being or monk or priest or something (too religious or something), to get married or anything. You know, too devoted in doing greater good and hence did not want to get married, that sort of thing.
So this was somewhat unexpected. But I am not saying it feels wrong. It felt more weird than wrong. Cos'...if saying he was gay is making him so....humane. So common. So ordinary. Which was so not him. I mean, if you read the book, he was usually so....powerful in a grandfatherly celestial way.
Oh wellz. But I am ok with it, after the shock settled in. But what I really wonder is, why are there other readers not taking this too well? It's like they are anti-gays or something.
Which reminded me of a conversation I had with the gang(minus Andre). The guys were saying that they did not like gays. Gay is wrong, or something similar to that. Whatever the case is, the guys also could not stand lesbians. Well, cos' lesbians snatched all the pretty girls away, some of my guy friends said.
And reminded me of another hot topic of the town that the govt(might be wrong abt this) abolished the law of homosexuals engaging in sex is against the law (or something like that).
Well, to me, I am not against homosexuals. It is their own private biz and affair and lives. Like the law which alot of people are against (well I have heard dimwits saying on the radio shows that homosexuals is a mental problem), I mean, seriously, how is homosexuals having sex going to destroy our conservative Asian culture and turn it into a homosexual haven?
That was what some of these dimwits(I'm sorry to say that) said when a radio station asked the public for opinion. Most of them were so anti-homosexual, saying that if that law was abolished, it is going to create a huge problem cos' children will see homosexuals and learn "bad" things and Singapore will turn into homosexual haven blah blah...
Seriously people....
The law that was abolished, from what I understand, is talking about sexual acts between two people of the same sex? Now, how is abolishing that law going to change our lives? We all knew that there are gays and lesbians in Singapore for so long....you mean, before the abolishment of this law, NONE of them were engaging in sexual activities?
They were so law-abiding, that they did not have any sex at all? I don't think so. Just like any one of us, when they engaged in sexual acts, they would usually do it in their own private houses or at least away from public eye, and the police will not be so insane to catch them at their own homes or something, right??
Please
lah...this law is as lame as the one which states anyone engaged in oral or anal sex is to be jailed (something like that). I mean, police won't be so free to knock door to door and ask whether you are engaged in this kind of activity, right? Of course, there are exceptional cases of that (probably cos' these people that were caught did not have the decency to do it in private).
But my point is, these are acts which people will usually do
in private. I felt that whatever we did in private is our business. And if these things (homosexuals sex and oral sex) are done
in private, how is that going to affect our society?
Now, you are going to ask, what if the homosexuals start having sex in public? This is going to affect our society blah blah...Think about it. If homosexuals are having sex in public, isn't it very discriminating for police to lock them because the law says people of the same sex should not do it? IF all of us straights are having sex in public, the police will lock us too,
for indecent exposure, right? I mean, arent both cases the same thing? Then why charge the homosexuals something so different? It is already bad enough that they already face discrimination, they still have to go through the law to have sex.
They should face the same punishment as we do. No, some imbeciles might argue that cos' they are mentally unsound. Yeah, so if they are, let's say you are right, even the law treats the mentally unsound better, cos' they can get away with murder while the homosexuals can't even have sex in peace. So why humiliate the homos by having that kind of law? Isn't it good that the govt is now more
democratic, realizing how humiliating it must be for them to be caught and that everyone can have equal rights, having sex with who they want etc...cos' ultimately, it's our own
private affair, isn't it?
(This does not apply to those people who have the kinky interest in having sex in public)
Oh well...I am not fighting for gay rights or whatever, I am just fighting for an individual's freedom and privacy.
Enough of this ranting.

Anyway, yesterday I went for Erdinger Oktoberfest at Merchant Loop....and before that to Brewerks. It wasn't a very fun trip...I had no idea what happened, except that dear was not his usual self (you know, fun and silly), so when he wasn't his usual self...it affected me too. Just felt downright depressed.
