Sick again and again
[ Sick of being sick ]
Yeah. I am sick. AGAIN.
AND it's supposed to be my break, cos' it's THE one week March holidays.
It was such a vicious cycle. I was the one that is sick first, cos' I got it from my brother.
Then after that, I think I spreaded it to dear. Somehow, after I was well for awhile, dear got sick, and after that, it came back to me.
So much for not relying on anti-biotics.
Anyway, just some random updates on the events. I've gotten my very beautiful looking pink external hard disk from the IT fair. Thanks to Qi. AND it's so
chio. That's the word for it. It even won some design award cos' of it's pretty design. It costs about $129 for a 320Gb hard disk.
Qi says more important is the functions inside, not the outlook. So she says it's not worth it cos' there are others around that is cheaper, for a 320Gb hard disk. I think the cheapest one is $99.
But I am sorry lor, I don't want the cheap one cos' to me, it's looks ugly. It's black, (and don't get the wrong idea, I don't hate black, I love black too) but it's the kind of
ugly, plastic~ky, cheapo black. Which I don't like. If it's the glossy, elegant, porsche black, I won't have minded.
I mean, after all, I have to face that external hard disk for a looooooong time. If it's so ugly, I won't even want to look at it. And I am sure if I bought the black cheap one, every time I look at it I will think about the nice pink one. So I am so happy to own my pink cute one. Haha. I am SO vain.
It's owned by a German company called Freecom, though it's made in China. But a quick google search makes me realise that Freecom is not as unheard of as I thought, cos' that was my main worry at first.
AND mine is known as
Freecom Tough drive pink. Cos' it's shock resistant too! So don't think it's pink means it's bimbotic ok? I didn't mind paying more not only cos' of its looks, but its shocki resistant. God knows I have a fettish for things shock-resistant (like Baby G). (It's cos' of my occupation, when dealing with children, it's best to own TOUGH things.) So when tough+good-looking comes together = Joyce's favourite thing. Haha.
Here is a picture:

Not very clear....

Much better. AND the cable is attached to it so I won't need to carry extra cable around, unlike other external hard disks. For it's toughness, design and cable-attached, I don't mind paying extra:)
AND we met this stupid salesgirl (who's selling the cheapo $99 black 320Gb hard disk). She is really stupid I tell you. So dumb that she pissed me and Qi off.
We saw this company's( I can't remember the name) external hard disk, and asked her which country it is from,
not which country it is made, just to gauge whether it's reliable. (Like mine is from Germany, even though it is made in China, so even though we never heard of Freecom, we are still more or less assured of its quality)
Then that dumbo(bimbo+dumb= more dumb than a bimbo) told us that it's made in China, which we could see(we're not dumb like her), since every piece of hard disk there(even mine) has a big MADE IN CHINA at the back. (I mean seriously, alot of the big names assemble their pieces in China nowadays, like Sony etc.)
So Qi patiently rephrased and asked her question again.
That dumbo, replied, "I don't know! Some parts of the hard disk can be from Thailand, some parts from China, if you really want to know, I can show you the different parts lor!"
How
dumb!
By this time, even I was pissed off at her apparent idiocy. I told her, "What my friend meant is which country the company that made it is from, you know where it originates from. Like Samsung is from Korea."
After listening to my super obvious explanation, do you know what the dumbo said?
Dumbo said: "I don't know la! Samsung is no longer from Korea what! It's now in Japan!"
Wow. What a smart dumbo! Firstly, I didn't know companies can be so dumb to move from Korea(of a lower cost) to Japan(of a higher cost) AND secondly, I didn't know some company from Japan bought over Samsung! Which company is that, I wonder...hmm? Toshiba or Fujitsu?
AND lastly,
which part of originate
from
you don't understand dumbo? I don't even think spelling the word O-R-I-G-I-N-A-T-E will help her to understand our question.
Thanks for that piece of information dumbo. I assume she must be right. After all, she is working at IT fair you know! How can we second guess her?
Anyway, enough of that dumbo.
Dear told me that he will be even more busy once he starts his PhD. I am glad he was awarded the scholarship, since the economy is bad now and it's difficult to find a job.
But the thing is, he is already quite stressed
now, even though he is still doing his honors year. He hasn't even started his post grad studies, and he already is so stressed and so many things to do.
So I am quite worried about him. AND I have to remind myself not to complain about him not being able to meet me as often, especially when his PhD starts. Cos' I think he has enough stress and doesn't need me to add on his stress.
I think I am worried cos' this is the first time I see him so stressed out. As in usually when he is under stress he won't mention it to anybody. He will just brush it off and when people asked him he will say, "it's ok la" that kind of thing.
Now, he is telling people he has no life etc. Must be hard on him. Hmm. I wonder besides being supportive and understanding what else I can do. Any suggestions, people??
That's about all for today's entry.
P/S: Oh! I am so happy. I am going to learn scrap booking tomorrow!!! Yay! Thanks to my colleague, Melissa. She can be very nice when it comes to scrap booking.
AND next entry I will be posting photos taken from Chiang Mai Palace which we feasted at last Saturday!
